What you can request

Filing an authorization request

The Pay Equity Commissioner can authorize, in certain circumstances, modified application of the Pay Equity Act. In order to obtain permission to apply the Act in a different way, employers and workplace parties must make an authorization request.

As a first step, you must submit a request for information and signify your intent to file an Authorization request. Before starting any process, we conduct a preliminary assessment of your intent to file a formal authorization request. This step is very important because we understand that timely guidance and timely interventions are key to your progress and success under the Pay Equity Act.

Filing a notice

The Act requires employers to inform the Pay Equity Commissioner when they wish to revise a Pay Equity Plan or voluntarily establish a Pay Equity Committee. In these cases, the filing of a notice is required.
